President Waheed provides statement to Inquiry Commission

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has provided his statement to National Inquiry Commission, set up by him to investigate the transfer of power.

The President’s Office said that the President arrived at Inquiry Commission at 10:00 this morning, and provided all information known to him and also information on how he dealt with the situations arising from the political events which took place from 14 January to 8 February 2012.

Spokesperson of President’s Office Abbas Adil Riza said that the President answered all questions posed by the Commission, and gave his full cooperation to the investigation.

“The President responded to their questions to the best of his knowledge,” Abbas Adil Riza said.

Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Commonwealth, and Police Integrity Commission have questioned the impartiality of the Inquiry Commission formed by the President to investigate the events leading to the fall of President Nasheed’s government.
