President ratifies the equal Ramadan Allowance bill

President Abdulla Yamin Abdul Gayoom has ratified the amendment to the Employment Law to give equal Ramadan Allowance to all employees.

Representing the Government, the MP for Dhuvaafaru constituency, Mohamed Ali presented the bill to the parliament that says that every employee in the government must receive MVR 3000 as Ramadan Allowance.

After the bill went through the committee process, the MP for the Gemanafushi constituency, Jameel Usman presented an amendment to the bill. And the bill passed with the amendment.

The amendment by MP Jameel says that every institute must be involved when deciding the salaries and bonuses from the Parliament.

And that all the Muslim foreign employees in the public sector must also receive MVR 3000 as a Ramadan Allowance.

But the amendment says that the Salary Policy for the local employees would apply for the Muslim foreign employees in the Private sector.

The bill was passed in the yesterday’s Parliament session.

The law has been amended so that the private sector can hold off on the implementation of the law by an year.
