The photo exhibition organized by the Environment Ministry and the Maldives Photographer’s Association celebrating the Environment Day has been opened tonight with the announcement of the winners of the competition.
The exhibition at the National Art Gallery was opened by Minister of Environment, Thariq Ibrahim.
The photo competition features four categories or themes to submit photos.
The themes were, Environment and Sustainable Development, Impacts on the Environment, Living things in Tradition and The Environment and the Human.
The winner of the Environment and Sustainable Development category was Saraah Mohamed. And the winner of Impacts on the Environment was Ibrahim Faiz. While the first place in the category Living things in Tradition was won by Hussain Niyaz, Mohamed Yaasif won the first place in the category, The Environment and the Human.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director General of the Environment Ministry, Mohamed Zahir said that in this year’s competition as well, a lot of the competitors took perfect pictures showing the Maldivian Environment.
Managing Director Zahir said that Photography is something that can easy do in the Maldives and the opportunity exists in the country. And so different qualities of camera and lenses have come to the country and can succeed in the business. Zahir requested that as many people take part in such photography challenges in the future.
The photography exhibition would be opened till the end of tomorrow night.
