A man on a boat from Faafu Feeali has been bitten by a shark.
Muhaimin, a crew member of 85-foot fishing boat Fahi Roadhi, was bit on the thigh while the boat was collecting bait near a reef in Faafu atoll at around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The crew member who rescued Muhaimin from the shark also suffered minor injuries.
Feeali Council President Mohamed Jaleel said that the shark, reportedly measuring about five feet in length, jumped back into the water and swam away after the attack.
Muhaimin is receiving treatment at Feeali Health Centre, and everyone else involved in the incident is in good condition, said Jaleel.
