Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that it will take about six months to install and begin the operation of the MRI machine donated by the government of India.
CEO of IGMH Farhath Shaheer said that a location for the machine has been identified and informed via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the High Commission of India in the Maldives.
Farhath said that the space will soon be checked by the company selling the machine, chosen by the Indian government; and IGMH would make the necessary preparations for the installation in the meantime.
Sources have told Sun Online that the delay in the installation of the MRI machine donated by the Defence Ministry of India last year, was due to delays in allocating space for the machine.
The government first decided to place it in the military hospital, Senehiya, and after officials of the company selling the machine visited Maldives and assessed the location, the government decided to change the location to IGMH.
The location in IGMH has also been changed after the first location had been checked by the company.
