Agreement signed for installation of oxygen plants at IGMH, Hulhumal

An agreement has been signed between Maldives Gas and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), for the installation of oxygen plants at IGMH and Hulhumalé Hospital.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony at Citron Restaurant this morning, by Deputy Director General of IGMH, Mohamed Rishwan; and Managing Director of Maldives Gas, Abdulla Maumoon.

Speaking at the ceremony, Maumoon said that Maldives Gas also has plans to provide an oxygen plant to Vilimalé soon.

He said that the oxygen plant provided to IGMH has a capacity of 120 cylinders – twice the amount presently required by the hospital.

“This guarantees oxygen production for IGMH even if it expands its services in the future,” said Maumoon.

He added that IGMH also has a reserve bank, as contingency in case something happens to the oxygen plant.

Efforts are also ongoing to provide small oxygen plants to hospitals in other islands as well, said Maumoon.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rishwan said that presently oxygen is supplied to IGMH from Thilafushi, and these efforts are often hampered by bad weather.

He said that the agreement signed today will solve this problem and many others for IGMH.
