22 people arrest at the May Day protest have been moved to house arrest

22 protestors who were arrested at the May Day protest by the opposition on 1 May has been moved to house arrest.

Police have released two out of the 25 people remaining in custody regarding the May Day protest was released today. And one person got his remand period extended today by seven days. The 22 people remaining were moved to house arrest for five days.

People who were released to house arrest included the former MP for the South Maafannu constituents, Ibrahim Rasheed (Bondey).

Police arrested a total of 193 people regarding the May Day protest. While most of the people arrested at the protest have been released, Police have sent the cases of 123 people to the Prosecutor General’s (PG’s) office.
