Man sentenced to three years in prison for theft of perfume bottle

A man has been given three years in prison by Criminal Court, for stealing a bottle of perfume.

The court said that Mohamed Ali had confessed to entering Home Plaza while intoxicated, and leaving the shop with a bottle of perfume in his pocket on the night of 31 August 2014.

The theft charge was denied in court by Mohamed Ali, but it was proven to the court by witness testimonies provided by the State, the court said in its verdict.

Mohamed Ali received two years in prison because this was his second conviction and an additional year because he stole from a shop.
