Maldives Correctional Service has notified former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim, who has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, to return to the Maldives.
Nazim travelled to Singapore for medical treatment on 10 April.
Nazim’s family member who spoke to Sun Online said that Nazim had received a letter from Maldives Correctional Service, asking him to return to Maldives before the expiry of the medical parole period.
He said that in the letter, Maldives Correctional Service had stated that they had been informed that Nazim’s medical treatment had been completed.
Nazim had replied to the letter and informed that he would return on 24 May upon completion of his medical treatment, his family member said.
He added that Nazim’s condition had improved.
Nazim was convicted of possession of firearms and sentenced to 11 years in prison on 27 March.
