Child molester sentenced to 10 years in prison

A child molester who abused a seven-year-old girl over a span of days has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The 46-year-old Ahmed Barudhee of G.A. Kanduhulhudhoo Daisymaage was sentenced by the G.A. Vilingili Magistrate Court yesterday.

The child abuse case was reported to the atoll’s Gemanafushi Police Station on 16 March of this year. And he was arrested with a court order following the report.

Police have said that the medical report from the doctor who examined the victim proves that she was sexually abused. And the suspect Badhuree confessed to the crime during his questioning giving all the details.

The verdict from the Vilingili Magistrate Court said that Ahmed Badhuree he confessed to molesting a seven-year-old girl on multiple occasions this year in charge by the state under Child Abuse laws.
