Child abuse cases to the gender ministry on the rise

Survey shows a rise in child abuse cases reported to the Ministry of Law and Gender in the past four years.

A report at the “Ahan” campaign for children rights said that the society’s responsibility in child abuse cases have grown greatly. And the responsibility has to be taken even as individual citizens.

The report said that 312 cases about children have been reported to the Ministry. And a legal guardian has been assigned to 11 children.

It also said that the number of reported cases have been on the rise after the three-year-old Mohamed Ibthihaal was found dead with signs of assault in V. Rakeedhoo. Starting from February, 26 of such cases has been reported to the gender ministry.

Speaking at today’s ceremony, Chief Judge, Mohamed Anil said that children are the country’s reserves. He said that children have to grow safely in our protection. Anil said that children has to grow in a happy environment.
