Tsunami monument to be relocated, for bridge project

The government has decided to move the tsunami monument to another location, to facilitate the construction of the bridge between Malé and Hulhulé.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu told Sun Online that the Malé-end of the bridge will be at the tsunami monument area.

He said that efforts were ongoing to decide the new location of the tsunami monument.

The bridge will connect the tsunami monument area in Malé to the southern tip of Hulhulé.

The survey and design work are ongoing, and construction is expected to begin in December.
