EU meets with PPM, MDP and JP

A team from the European Union (EU) has met with the governing PPM and the opposition MDP and PPM.

PPM said that the current political state of the country was discussed with the EU emissary in the meeting held at the PPM office.

The Vice President of PPM and Tourism Minister, Ahmed Adheeb and Vice President and the MP for the Fonadhoo constituency, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Spokesperson and the MP for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Ali Arif, Anees Ahmed and Moosa Zameer took part in the PPM meeting with the EU emissary.

The EU emissary also met with the opposition MDP as well. Although the topics of discussion at the meetings are yet unclear.

Jumhooree Party said that EU emissary did meet with them and discussed the political state of the country. The Party said that the council members and members of the Parliamentary group took part in the meeting.

While an EU emissary has met with the officials of PPM, EU has released a statement to free the former president Mohamed Nasheed and the former Defence Minister, Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim without any conditions.

European Union has called to to impose a travel ban on and to freeze international assets belonging to members of the Maldivian government and their leading supporters in the business community.

And it calls for the freedom of expression and the freedom of the judicial system.

The EU statement also says that the Maldives should be allowed to run a free democracy and that moderate muslims should have equal opportunity. It also calls for a full investigation of the missing journalist, Ahmed Rilwan.
