Shiyam: There are people disrupting the development of the country

Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ahmed Shiyam has said that there are people in the country who are disrupting the development of the country.

Speaking at the ceremony celebrating 123 years of service by the Maldives National Defence Force, Major General Shiyam said that we see the work of such people every day.

“The target of military should always be, we would not let those people do what they want with the country.” He said.

Major General Shiyam said that the military should always be loyal to the country and think without being influenced from our surroundings.

Speaking to the military, Major General Shiyam said, “…We must have the courage to say no to the work they do to destroy this institution.”

He also said that staying independent is a difficult task and the military alone cannot keep the country independent.

“Everyone should take part in it with the military.” He said.
