The parliament has approved the appointment of Ahmed Zuhoor as Minister of Health.
The approval was granted by the unanimous vote of 48 MPs.
Zuhoor was appointed as Health Minister by President Abdulla Yameen on 10 March 2015.
Former Health Minister Dr Mariyam Shakeela was rejected by the parliament, following which Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim was appointed as Acting Health Minister.
Nazim was dismissed following suspicions of possession of firearms, and Minister of Fisheries Dr Mohamed Shainee served as Acting Health Minister until Zuhoor’s appointment.
