An anti-government march by a group of young people on the streets of Malé this afternoon, has ended with three arrests.
The march, which began at Usfasgandu, was part of the series of “Maldivians against brutality” protests by opposition parties.
The police spokesperson told Sun Online that three protesters had been arrested for obstruction and disobeying orders.
Participants said that the purpose of today’s demonstration was to prepare for 1 May.
As they marched along Orchid Magu, the crowd was advised by police to leave the area.
While today’s march was initiated by a group of young people, protests have been held by senior members of opposition parties for several consecutive Fridays.
