Voting begins for PPM Dhiggaru Primary

Voting has begun for the Primary of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) for the upcoming By-election for Dhiggaru constituency.

The candidates are Meemu Atoll Council President Moosa Naseer, and Faris Maumoon.

A third individual withdrew his candidacy last week.

Voting began in Dhiggaru, Maduvvari, Veyvah, and Muli - the islands in the Dhiggaru constituency – at 2:00 p.m. The Primary is not held in Raiymandhoo.

Voting is also ongoing in Malé, at Billoori Hall in Dharubaaruge, with 70 eligible voters.

The total number of eligible voters for PPM Dhiggaru Primary is 512.

The voting will continue until 5:00 p.m.

Main opposition party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has scheduled its Primary for Monday.

The Dhiggaru By-election will be held on 6 June 2015.
