Custody period extended on Aafiya

The custody period of Aafiya’s stepfather, Ismail Rauf who has been arrested for sexual abuse of his three-year-old grand stepson, Mohamed Ibthihaal who was found dead inside a house in the island of Rakeedhoo has been extended for a second time.

Police media official said that Rauf’s custody period was extended for a second time for 15 days on 16 April.

Talking to the press, the head of the Police Serious and Organized Crime Department, Superintendent Abdulla Satheer said that the 36-year-old Rauf was previously convicted for abusing a stepson.

The Superintendent said that the investigation showed that he also abused Aafiya as well. And a case against him for abusing a step child and one of his own children has been sent to the Prosecutor General.
