Commissioner of Police, Hussain Waheed has said that we should not hesitate to bleed to protect our independence and sovereignty.
Speaking at the ceremony held at Kulhudhufushi to commemorate the 82 anniversary of the Police tonight, Commissioner Waheed said that some people are trying to create anger towards him. He said that he has not done anything to dishonor the police and would “never do” such a thing.
“I have not done anything that would be a loss to the Police service, disgrace the uniform or dishonor the police. And with Allah’s will, would never do such a thing in the future.” The Commissioner said.
Tonight, the Commissioner said that some of the MP’s of the parliament are creating laws and then voicing against those laws and misusing their rights. And the community is embracing taking their protests to the streets, obstructing police work and vandalizing police property.
He said that the blood shed by the Police to protect the independence and nationalism is something precious.
“We should not hesitate to bleed to protect his country’s independence and this country’s nationalism. We all have to believe that the blood shed in that noble cause is something precious.” Commissioner said.
Noting that some people are working to disrupt the brotherhood of the police, the Commissioner said that the Police would not hesitate to implement the law. And to stop what’s being done against the law, they would knock on any door that needs to be knocked on.
“The Police would stop them if someone is people are on the street against the law, close streets and block the freedom of travel. There is no doubt, implementing the law is ordered on the police by the constitution and the laws. It is by no means a choice to the police. It’s what must be done by the police.” Commissioner said.
