Hundred divers calls to free President Nasheed

Hundred divers held a diving event today calling for the release of the former president Mohamed Nasheed who is currently serving a 13-year prison sentence for terrorism.

The event, “Free Climate Hero, 100 Divers, 100 Flags” began at the West Park area an ended outside the junction of Majeedhee Magu and Boduthakurufaanu Magu.

The Chief Organizer of the event, Hussain Rasheed (Sendy) said that the 100 divers used balloons once they were submerged to put up flags on the surface.

Hussain said that the event for the release of the President was orginzed because they believe that President Nasheed was a hero in the work against the effects of climate change. And the Divers participated in the event to remember the president’s work in the field.
