Helmets to be mandatory for motorcyclists in Addu

Addu City Council has passed to make it mandatory for all motorcyclists to wear helmets while on the road.

This follows several recent fatal accidents involving motorcycles in the city.

Addu City Mayor Abdulla Sodig told Sun Online that the decision, to ensure safety on the roads, will be enforced after the relevant regulation is compiled and published.

Discussions are ongoing with Transport Authority regarding compiling the regulation, he said.
