Agreements signed for waste management projects in five islands

Ministry of Environment and Energy has signed agreements for the construction of Island Waste Management Centres in four islands in Noonu Atoll, and an Incinerator Shed in Raa Vandhoo.

The five islands in Noonu atoll are Lhohi, Maalhendhoo, Fohdhoo, and Magoodhoo.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the government by Minister of Environment and Energy, Thorig Ibrahim, at a ceremony at the ministry today.

The cost of the projects in Maalhendhoo and Fohdhoo is estimated at MVR 1.9 million, while the cost of the project in Magoodhoo is MVR 585,260, and the cost of the project in Vandhoo is MVR 2,584,949.

The projects in Lhohi and Maalhendhoo will be funded by the Maldives Environment Management Project, while the projects in Fohdhoo and Magoodhoo will be funded by the Public Sector Investment Program.

Environment Ministry is expected to spend a total of MVR 4.3 million on these projects.
