Excavator in Bandidhoo harbour destroyed in fire

An excavator operating in Dhaalu Bandidhoo harbour has been destroyed in a fire incident this morning.

Bandidhoo Council President Hassan Haneef told Sun Online that the fire started at around 7:30 a.m., and the excavator operator managed to escape uninjured.

The fire has been extinguished, and the reason behind it is unknown although an investigation is under way by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue, said Haneef.

The excavator belongs to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), which is carrying out the harbour project in Bandidhoo.
