Two British nationals died early Saturday morning in Kuredu Island Resort after a suspected road accident.
In a press statement released yesterday, Police informs that, at 04:15am on 6 August, management at the resort informed the Maldives Police Service that two of their guests were found with injuries at the roadside of the resort. According to the reports the British man died at the scene of the incident while his wife died later in the morning as she was about to be ferried to the nearby island of Naifaru for treatment. Third individual, also believed to be injured in the incident is currently in hospital being treated for the injuries.
No detail about the third person was given.
According to the Police, Police Officers from Naifaru Police Station were immediately dispatched to the resort, and also Maldives Police Service dispatched a special investigation team from police headquarters in Male’ to the resort.
Maldives Police Service says that the identities of the two British nationals in question are not being revealed until police have spoken to their families and the police are currently conducting a full inquiry into the deaths and will release further details in due course.
