The foundation stone has been laid for a new police station in Hulhumalé.
The foundation stone was laid at a ceremony in Hulhumalé this morning, by Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer and Commissioner of Police Hussain Waheed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Superintendent of Police Ismail Naveen said that the lack of a police station has posed challenges for ensuring police presence in Hulhumalé.
He said that with the new police station, services will be expanded and efforts will be stepped up to prevent crime, to guarantee a safe environment for the residents of and visitors to Hulhumalé.
