Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced plans to construct a musical fountain in Malé, as a gift to the public on the occasion of the country’s 50th Independence Day.
MTCC said that the new musical fountain will replace the old water fountain located to the west of Republic Square.
CEO of MTCC Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq told Sun Online that in addition to water and music, the fountain will include lights, fog, and mist; and the area will be developed as a place where children can play in the water.
The fountain, funded by the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, will be opened on 26 July or Independence Day, said Razzaq.
The area has been closed off for construction.
