Three more witnesses presented by the state testified in today’s hearing at the trial of Tholhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaanu, who is charged with terrorism for his role in the unlawful arrest of the former Chief Judge of the Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed.
The testimonies presented today were from the wife of Abdulla Mohamed, his sister inlaw and the former Head of Intelligence at MNDF, Ahmed Nimal.
Responding to a question by the prosecution at the hearing, Ahmed Nimal said that an “operation” was mentioned at meeting of high ranking officials of the MNDF before Judge Abdulla was arrested. And Tholhath was present at the said meeting. Nimal said that he did not know who they were arresting before the arrest was made.
When the prosecution repeatedly asked if he was aware that a judge was getting arrested, Nimal said that he “does not remember” the events and the topic of discussion at the said meeting.
After the testimonies, the prosecution said that they have requested the police for information on their witnesses, the former Commissioner of Police Ahmed Faseeh, the former Deputy Commissioner of Police Ismail Atheef and Colonel Vais Waheed. The court gave the lawyers three days to complete the task.
