MDP truck damaged by an unknown group

An MDP truck prepared at the Tsunami Monument area for tonight’s protest demonstration has been heavily damaged by an unknown group carrying weapons.

The police media official said that police have responded to a disturbance at the Tsunami Monument area and they are investigating the events at the location.

While the group with the sharp objects attacked the truck, MDP supporters were at the scene. But there was no response from them.

The area which the event took place, famously known as the “Grounds of Separation of Powers”, is an area monitored by the police via CCTV.

The former MP Ibrahim Rasheed (Bondey) who witnessed the attack told Sun Media that four men wielding knives came and attacked the vehicle around 9:10 p.m. tonight.

“What they did, they did in about 20 seconds.” Bondey said.

He also said that they weren’t covering their faces and fled on motorcycles afterwards.

The windscreen of the truck was heavily damaged. And the speakers on the back have been thrown off and their cables cut.

Police have confirmed that the incident was true and are under investigation.

While MDP supporters are trying to gather near the Tsunami Monument, police have blocked off the area between the monument and the swimming track.
