Four people has been arrest in the protest at the local market demanding the release of the former president Mohamed Nasheed.
Police media official told Sun Media today that the two of the four arrests today were because they attempted to assault the police. And the other two were arrested for obstructing the police.
The protest this afternoon was timed with the appeal hearing at the High Court to overrule the court order issued by the Criminal Court to arrest the former president Mohamed Nasheed. But the High Court dismissed the case after the former president refused to enter the courtroom.
While four were arrested in today’s protest, six people were arrested in the MDP protest last night.
The MDP congress last night has decided to do everything in their power to free the former president.
The former president Mohamed Nasheed has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for the unlawful arrest of the former chief judge of the Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed.
