Six arrested for disobeying police orders during protests

Six people have been arrested for disobeying police orders during the demonstrations on Friday night, following the 13-year jail sentence against former President Mohamed Nasheed.

Police said that all six people were arrested near Salsa Royal in Malé at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The National Council of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) passed a resolution last night to do everything possible to push for Nasheed’s release.

MDP has held protests in Malé every night since Nasheed’s arrest.
