The Disaster Management Centre has said that water shortage has been reported by 32 islands this year.
An official of the Disaster Management Centre told Sun Online that water is supplied to islands facing shortage in the dry season every year.
He said that this year, water was supplied to one island in the first round in January, and to six islands in the second round.
Efforts are ongoing to supply water to 11 islands as part of the third round, he said.
Atolls which have reported water shortage this year include Raa, Baa, Lhaviyani, Kaafu, Vaavu, Thaa, Noon, Gaafu Alifu, And Gaafu Dhaalu atolls.
The community water tanks in the islands are filled with water as required under the efforts by the Disaster Management Centre to supply water, the official told Sun Online.
