The trial hearing of the former president Mohamed Nasheed which was scheduled for 4 p.m. this evening has been delayed to tonight.
Media official of the Criminal Court Ahmed Mohamed Manik said the hearing was delayed to give the opportunity to review the evidence in the presence of Nasheed’s lawyers as requested by the former president in the latest hearing.
Sources say that the lawyers of the former president are reviewing the evidence in Dhoonidhoo.
In last night’s hearing, President Nasheed said that he cannot review video evidence in Dhoonidhoo since a TV and computer are not provided there. And he request to be changed to house arrest so he can review the evidence with his lawyers.
Regarding the matter, the head of the judges bench Abdulla Didi said the court would try to arrange the facilities the former president requested. The facilities have now been arranged.
