Maldives stand at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) has won third place in the Asia/Australia/Oceania category.
First and second places in this category went to South Korea and India respectively.
The award was accepted by Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Abdulla Ziyath, and Marketing Director of MMPRC, Fathimath Afra.
According to MMPRC, Maldives sported a newly-designed stand at the fair, which allowed for better business to business meeting areas in a contemporary setting with attractive imagery of the country.
MMPRC said that the stand has an interactive area for display of handicraft activity and cultural performances, and a more serene spa area to highlight the relaxation and rejuvenation segment; and furthermore, Maldivian gastronomy was an added highlight at the stand through Maldivian made short eats.
Maldives will be the main partner at the ITB Berlin next year, for which preparations are already under way, said MMPRC.
The fair, held from 4 to 8 March in Berlin, Germany, is attended by 10,096 representatives from 198 countries.
