Sri Lankan PM: Maldives is considered an extension of Sri Lanka

The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that the Maldives is an extension of Sri Lanka.

In a debate in the country’s parliament, the PM said that the road developed in Addu City was without a tender under that circumstance.

“A road has been constructed for the Maldives for the first time. Well the Maldives is considered an extension of Sri Lanka, so if things are happening without tenders in Sri Lanka, it will happen in Maldives too.” The PM said.

The debate in the parliament with the of leader of JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayaka has now been subbed and uploaded on YouTube. Sri Lankan media outlets have speculated and it is yet unclear what the PM meant by it.
