Emissaries of the Maldivian government have gone to Sri Lanka to share the political status of the country with the international community.
The emissary includes the Majority Leader of the Parliament, Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, Attorney General Mohamed Anil, the Minister of the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) and the MP for the Vaikaradhoo constituents Ali Arif.
The parliament majority leader’s tweets shows the emissaries meeting with the foreign ambassadors in Sri Lanka, which includes the special envoy to the Maldives from Russia, Australia, Qatar and the UK.
While high ranking officials representing the government is active in Sri Lanka, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dunya Maumoon has briefed the President of United Nation’s Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Joachim Rücker on the situation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Dunya briefed the Human Rights Council President on the current political situation in the Maldives.
With the government emissaries active in Sri Lanka, team from MDP-JP has also left to Sri Lanka last week led by the Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim and the former president of the parliament and the current MP for the Henveiru-north constituents, Abdulla Shahid.
