Remand period extended by 15 days for Ibthihaal

Afiya Mohamed, arrested on suspicion of abuse of her three-year-old son, Ibthihaal Mohamed, which led to his death, has been given an additional remand period of 15 days by Criminal Court on Saturday.

Prior to that, her remand period was extended on 13 February, for 15 days.

Ibthihaal was found dead in Vaavu Rakeedhoo with serious injuries, on 28 January. His mother had been advised on multiple occasions by the Island Council following suspected abuse.
