Discussions with Police to decrease injury to journalists in protest rallies

Maldives Media Council (MMC) and the Police have had discussions on reducing injury and harm coming to journalists in protest rallies and other events.

According to MMC, the meeting was held last night. And the police have been presented with concerns from the journalists.

MMC says the temporary committee selected within the Media Council has met with the journalists that came to harm in the ongoing protest demonstrations in the country.

A total of five journalists have been met by the council which includes reporters from Raaje TV, Vaguthu Online and VTV.

While the council has met with the police to about the injuries to the journalists, the MMC has also advised all the relative parties to provide protection to the reporters covering the protests.

The MMC has noted that expensive equipment is being damaged in the rallies and urge the relevant authorities to protect the journalists and allow the freedom of press.
