Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has received an inquiry regarding the negligence of the Prosecutor General (PG) Muhthaaz Muhsin in the case against the former Defense Minister Colonel-retired Mohamed Nazim.

A tweet today from the team of Nazim’s lawyers says that HRCM have accepted the inquiry.

Nazim’s lawyer Maumoon Hameed said Nazim’s constitutional rights have been diminished. And the PG has neglected has neglected his duty by law.

While Nazim’s lawyers have submitted this inquiry to the Civil Court and the HRCM, Nazim has requested the PG’s office to have his trial in open court.

The former Defense Minister was charged with possession of a firearm after his arrest with a pistol and three bullets. The Criminal Court has decided to keep Nazim in police custody for the length of his trail.
