An agreement has been signed today between the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure and the State Trading Organization (STO) to deliver “Thayyaaree Concrete” or Ready-Mix Concrete to the people.
The Managing Director of STO Adam Azim and Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu signed the agreement at a special ceremony held at the Housing Ministry this afternoon.
At the news conference after the signing ceremony, Housing Minister Dr. Muizzu said that a special land has been assigned by the government to STO for the purpose of this project, and this project has been included as part of the government policy.
“As you know, Male’ is a crowded place. A lot of people are living here. The construction business is moving at a fast pace. So today we have achieved part of the government’s plan to make Male’ a peaceful place. We’re giving the land that was part of the STO block in the north of the city for this project,” said Muizzu.
The Minister has noted a lot of roads are blocked for a long time by construction materials and machineries, and said that a solution will be provided to this problem by the agreement signed today. The minister said that the city life would be easier once the project commences.
Speaking at conference, the Managing Director of STO Adam Azim said STO will go forward with the Ready-Mix Concrete project in such a way that is easy for community.
“Which means, we’ll prepare the Ready-Mix Concrete at our site and bring it to the construction sites in our trucks and use it. So instead of closing off roads for an entire day, we’ll work in a way that it can be done in two to three hours,” said Azim.
Azim said that it will be much easier like this for the people since the work will be completed in about a maximum of four hours.
He also added that the concrete dust would be reduced during the construction and it will be good for the community.
