Adeeb calls on youth to join protest against Nasheed, Gasim

Minister of Tourism Ahmed Adeeb has urged young people in Malé to join him in a protest against former President and President of opposition party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Mohamed Nasheed, and Leader of Jumhooree Party, (JP) Gasim Ibrahim.

On Twitter this morning, Adeeb said that Nasheed and Gasim were “destroying our future”.

The message has been retweeted by many people, including parliamentarians representing ruling party Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

MDP and JP have held protests for over a week, to “defend the constitution”.

At last night’s gathering, protesters called for the release of former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim.
