Seychellois President: President Nasheed

The President of Seychelles James A. Michel has said that President Mohamed Nasheed’s participation at the opening ceremony of the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games is a “testimony to the importance we attach to our relations, to solidarity in our region and to the values we hold in common”.

In his address at the opening ceremony, President Michel noted that the Maldives and all of the countries represented at the Indian Ocean Island Games, are linked by a common vision.

Highlighting the small island developing states working together, President Michel said, “We need not only to speak out against climate change, but seek innovative solutions to a phenomenon which threatens our survival”.
