A woman arrested in Hulhumalé over suspicions of negligence of her six-month-old baby has been released.
The police spokesperson told Sun Online that the woman was taken to Criminal Court on Sunday for a detention period extension hearing, but the court instead decided to grant her conditional release.
The conditions set by the court include caring for the baby, and refraining from aggressive and violent behaviour at home.
The 23-year-old woman was arrested on 31 January 2015. Police said that the investigation will continue despite the court’s decision to release the suspect.
The case is under investigation also by Ministry of Law and Gender. The baby has been handed over to relatives of its father following the ministry’s intervention.
