Father arrested for keeping disabled son in chains

A father has been arrested in Baa Eydhafushi for keeping his disabled son in chains.

The Police Information Officer, Station Inspector Ismail Ali told Sun Online that a 50-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night for keeping his 23-year-old son in chains.

Ismail Ali said that the issue was reported by Eydhafushi Hospital, and the suspect was arrested under an arrest warrant at the scene of the crime.

Sources have told Sun Online that the son was taken to the hospital after he injured his head, following which the police were alerted by the hospital. The police then visited the home, to find the son with a chain around his leg.

Last month, a mother was arrested in the same island on suspicion of physical abuse against her four-year-old child.
