Gayoom congratulates Siyam on election as MDA Leader

Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has congratulated Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on being elected as the Leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA).

In a tweet this morning, Gayoom said, “Warm congratulations to Hon Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on being elected as Leader of MDA. We are partners in nation building.”

Siyam was uncontested and appointed to the post of MDA Leader without voting, at the party’s congress held over the weekend.

Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof, Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir, and Aishath Rafiyya were elected as Deputy Leaders of the party.

Also, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu was appointed as a Deputy Leader by the Leader, with reference to Article 24 (a) of Chapter 4 of the party’s basic regulation.

Members were also elected at the MDA congress to the posts of National Council Member, President of Youth Wing, Vice President of Youth Wing, and President of Women’s Wing.
