Customs holds Cargo Targeting System training program

Maldives Customs Service, in collaboration with World Customs Organisation (WCO), has held a training program on Cargo Targeting System (CTS).

The five-day program began on Sunday, and certificates were handed out to participants at the closing session on Thursday, by Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor.

The WCO’s CTS allows Customs administrations to perform comprehensive and effective risk assessment of import, export and transhipment cargo, and to identify high risk shipments across the full range of Customs risks and facilitating trade.

Addressing the participants, chief guest at the closing ceremony Zakariyya Mansoor highlighted the increase in the shipments entering Maldives over the years, and said that the system would assist implementation authorities in their efforts to identify high risk shipments.

The training program was conducted by WCO experts.
