Child kept in chains in Kulhudhuffushi

Police are investigating an 11-year-old child being held in chains by the parents in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi.

The police spokesperson told Sun Online that no one has been arrested in relation to this case yet.

The child was in chains but did not have any injuries when police visited the island yesterday.

Sources have told Sun Online that the child is mischievous and often misbehaved, and the family keeps him in chains for his own safety.

A person who spoke to Sun Online from Kulhudhuffushi said that the child often breaks things around the house, and has been provided advice by officials of Ministry of Law and Gender, but with no improvement.

The family said that they have consulted doctors, and the child has not been diagnosed with any physical or mental illness.
