Ministry of Health has said that the governments of China and Lithuania have agreed following discussions, to assist Maldives in the efforts to develop its health sector.
The discussions took place at the ongoing 136th World Health Organisation (WHO) Executive Board Session in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Health Ministry, China has promised to provide medical doctors, medical equipment, and scholarships for medical doctors; as well as to conduct a medical camp in the Maldives.
Lithuania has also assured that it would provide medical doctors, and training programs for medical experts.
Maldives is represented at the 136th WHO Executive Board Session, held from 26 January to 3 February 2015, by Minister at the President’s Office Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Minister of State for Health Hussain Rasheed, Deputy Director General of Ministry of Health Aishath Samiya, and Director of Health Protection Agency Maimoona Abubakr.
