MDA congress to begin on Friday

Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has announced that its congress would begin on Friday, 6 February 2015.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Deputy Leader of MDA and Kudahuvadhoo MP Ahmed Amir said that the party is presently run by an interim council, and that the congress had been scheduled and announced twice before, but delayed until now for various reasons.

“We have decided to hold the congress on 6 and 7 February at Dharubaaruge. Despite the short notice, efforts are ongoing by the council to complete all arrangements,” he said.

MDA Deputy Leader and Kendhikulhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof said at the press conference that efforts would begin after the congress, to increase party membership.

“MDA is recognised by many people as a party that has achieved great progress within a short duration. The party is popular among the people,” said Mauroof.

MDA has also said that amendments would be made to its basic regulation after the congress.
