National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has decided to open for re-registration of electricity subsidy from 10 February.
Speaking in a press conference held on Monday, CEO of NSPA, Mujthaba Jaleel said that re-registration for electricity subsidy will be opened from 10 February to 5:00 p.m. of 9 April and those who fail to re-register within this period will not receive electricity subsidy.
Mujthaba said that the purpose opening for re-registration is to provide opportunity for those who have not registered before and to distribute subsidy in a more equitable manner.
“We see that rich and poor get equal amount of subsidy now. Our intention is to bring changes to these two groups and to provide subsidy for those who need it” said Mujthaba.
Speaking in the press conference, Mujthaba said that electricity subsidy is provided for only domestic meters and commercial meter are not provided with electricity subsidy.
Mujthaba noted that people can register for food subsidy as well, when they re-register for electricity subsidy.
