President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom said that tourism has made Maldivians to live peacefully with people who arrive in Maldives from everywhere in the world.
Speaking in the event held on Friday evening to inaugurate Club Med Finolhu Villas Resort, President Yameen said that tourism industry had to face a number of challenges due to economic issues in the country, with the development of the industry and that government has given special emphasis on improving economy of the country.
President has highlighted on the efforts being made to improve the economy of the country in the event held on Friday evening. In that regard, President has said that economy largely depends on tourism sector.
President Yameen also noted that while the government focuses on development projects, maintaining peace in the society is given equal importance and that Islam, which is the religion that appreciates coexistence, and preaches tolerance and peace, is practiced in Maldives.
Speaking about the rumors regarding Maldives, President has urged the investors to convey the message of sustained peace and stability in Maldives to the whole world. He added that maintaining peace and being cooperative is one of the principles in Islam.
Club Med Finolhu Villas Resort inaugurated on Friday evening is the first resort that runs 100 percent on solar energy in Maldives.
